Word of the Day -- Tenebrous

Here's a word for a Monday, for sure.  After a really pretty weekend, and a chance to be outside and grill, hang out, it's time to get back to the grind.  You may find yourself inside like me, staring at a computer screen and think:  "It sure it dark in here." One might even say it is:

Tenebrous -- shut off from the light; dark and murky.

One might say that if one knew the word, which I sure didn't until I cam across it on Merriam-Webster in a thing they call Words at Play, which is a pretty cool phrase for lovers of language.

It came to English through French from the Latin word tenebrosus, itself derived from tenebrae, meaning, according to the Oxford Latin Dictionary, “the more or less complete absence of light, darkness,” “the darkness of night,” and “(as of squalid or disreputable buildings, etc.) a dark corner, den.”

They call it tenebrous, I call it Monday.
