Pluto Fly By

New Horizon's flyby will occur on July 14. On that date the tiny craft will be the closest it will ever be to Pluto. This is big news as in the weeks leading up to and just after that date our probe will begin taking close up pictures and sending them home. Our normal pictures of Pluto are fuzzy and offer little concrete detail, that's going to change.

Very cool.

After that New Horizon plunges into the Kuiper Belt and begins her long journey through the outer ring (what I like to think of as our first line of defense against the alien invasion that must inevitably come).
