Disney Star Wars

As everyone knows, Disney has acquired the Star Wars franchise as well as Indiana Jones. To many these franchises are sacrosanct, untouchable; they are holy in that they have found a place in the lexicon of childhood experiences that collectively make up the sum total of who we are or who we aspire to be. For many questions such as "who shot first" are not nearly as important as the resonating imagery of the movies themselves, the feeling it gave you when you watched it, one so profound that in quiet moments you can capture it...and relive that moment in time.

And now with Disney gaining the helm we think, that moment will be utterly destroyed, turned into some cute, happy tale of good versus evil . . . well I guess it was already that . . . but it will lack the subtleties, the nuances of Lucas' firm hand, evil will be painted in darkness, and good in white . . . wait Lucas already did that . . . well, it will be made into a faery tale where the characters must master their own persons to gain the power of their own magic . . . wait, crap. Did that.

Okay scratch all that. We are more worried they'll make it all cute. They'll have the care bears attacking a crack legion of imperial storm troopers to over come the defense shield. These cute little bears will have sticks and stones ans show the power of the  . . . wait a minute . . .

Hmmm. It seems Disney is pretty good at making movies of epic adventure with extraordinary persons fighting clearly evil creatures.

Like Lucas did.

So I say, lets give it a chance. BRING IT ON DISNEY!

Yeah, I'm not worried. Since I was not a big fan of the newest stuff, I don't feel I have anything to loose. Either I will not like the Disney new stuff and not worry...

or I will like it and feel excited about it all again.

A few websites are claiming that Disney is in talks to purchase Hasbro. Interesting - so many icons on my childhood under one roof.
