Breaking up the Band

It seems Hergenrother is breaking up. They've been touring the system for a very long time now, but it seems the band is coming apart. News of this came first from Mauna Kea in Hawaii where Rachel Stevenson from JPL announced the breakup: "Using the National Optical Astronomy Observatory's Gemini North Telescope on top of Mauna Kea, Hawaii, we have resolved that the nucleus of the comet has separated into at least four distinct pieces resulting in a large increase in dust material in its coma."  The apocalypse came early for this inter solar traveler.
