Though seas have swallowed lands and the winds brought mountains down, it seems that the Ent Wives survived after all. Bristlecone pines, small trees with twisted trunks and a plethora of dead and living branches have carved a nitch for themselves out of the cold, mountain winds in the south west United States. One of the old girls was found to be 4862 years old, the oldest living (now dead) creature on planet earth. Another of the ents is suspected at being a similar age.
Treebeard would be happy to know that the ent wives at least survived the cataclysms of the fourth age and live contented for many thousands of years. Read on.
