Judging by their relative positions, it appears that the barbarian is about to be skewered. He has opened himself wide with such a dramatic pose, meanwhile the Legionnaire is maintaining his shield defense with a hidden sword thrust. I envision the barbarian's arm coming down, being met by the Roman's raising shield, which is then followed through with him thrusting his sword deep into the barbarian's stomach. Bye bye barbarian...
