Near Miss

There is an old expression, about near misses. Something about horse-shoes and hand grenades, or some such business.

And it seems the good old earth is getting one tonight. An asteroid, 4179 Toutatis, is thundering through the heavens above some 4 and half million miles away. The moon is about a quarter of a million miles off the coast of Alberta Canada to give you a good idea. Toutatis will make its closest pass tomorrow night and you can watch it over on the virtual telescope site.

No is predicting that this asteroid will nudge the position of the moon a little, causing a global catastrophe around the 21st of this month.
