It seems that the publishing house HarpersCollins is set to release an early work of Tolkien's that has never seen the light of day. Its styled the precursor to the Tale of Turin Turambar (one of the greatest stories ever put to paper in my opinion) and titled Kullervo.
In the tale a boy's people are killed and he is raised by a dark magician who has slain or kidnapped his family. The tale ends not unlike the tale of Turin.
Tolkien remarked that it was the germ of his attempt to create legends of his own.
