The Hops Have It

News to beer lovers everywhere. Apparently the mere taste of beer triggers the brain to release a horde of dopamine. These little bastards flood the brain in a euphoric wave of joy and happiness, overwhelming depression, aggravation, and irritation in pounding waves of ecstatic glee and riant merriment. The dopamine is like a party in the brain! And all this before the alchohol.

Scientist discovered this after testing 49 subjects who were offered small amounts of beer; showing that the taste alone can elicit a call from the brain for more.

Of course one wonders if these were beer veterans whose brains had long ago grown used to the euphoria following a night in the bottle . . . whether or not it ended in the gutter at Gencon unable to walk while one's brother, lets call him Tavis, dragged him by the arm whilst mumbling "Just one more round you bastard!" These brains would of course trigger the dopamine at the mention or even the scent of hop born fluid.

LiveScience.
