6500 Hundred Years Ago

Miners were digging up copper south of modern day Suez, loading it on the backs of beasts and carting up, over hills and through valleys to the a port city. There, careful records recorded transactions of daily life, not doubt to establish value and tax 'em.

Or so we suppose. The oldest set of papyri were discovered in Egypt recently; while excavating a town estimated to be thriving in 2600 BC during the Pharaoh's Khufu's reign. Khufu is credited with building the pyramid at Giza, one of the largest man-mad structures ever created.
