Archeologists have discovered the remains of at least 14 Neanderthals in Kalamakia Greece. The bones were found in a deep cave, on the western slopes of the Mani Mountains, that serve as the back bone of the peninsula by the same name. The region is very mountainous with few roads (and these only recent); most villages in the region are accessed by the sea alone.
The cave harbors the bones of our kin, long lost and forgotten. Researches are hoping to find a connection between them and homo sapiens as Greece probably served as a "crossroads" for humans traveling north.

post script: the coolest thing about this site is the location. There's something cool about villages perched on the southern rim of Europe but protected from the centuries of chaos . . . well unless chaos had a boat.
