I can't quite figure out why they built this, nor figure out how they are making 1.6 million a year, and indeed if they are, why the tax payers in NM are paying the bills.
But what I really can't figure out is why New Mexico built a space port. It was supposed to be for commercial and recreational space traffic. But there isn't in of that yet (soon). We still send the majority of our satellites up into space via rocket and to date there haven't been any recreational space flights, except maybe that guy who parachuted from 100 million billion miles up (that was cool, you can see that here).
This might be a case of too much Field of Dreams.
So anyway if you have a bunch of money, there's a space port going up for sale in New Mexico.
