Batflek

Peter Bradley, TLG's Art Director, and I had an interesting discussion about Ben Affleck playing Batman in the forthcoming Batman/Superman movie. Ben can clearly act. That wasn't the point. The real question is, can he portray Batman, which lead to the discussion about who is Batman.

That's the real point.

Is Batman, like Peter suggests, a sociopath who is on a one track journey of revenge for the murder of his parents ("Ever dance with the devil in a pale moon light?") or is he, as I contend, a super-hero who uses the Bats persona to bring terror to those who prey upon the helpless, render them weak and capture them. How he is portrayed is how the actor who plays him must portray.

In other words the acting will be as good as the script. If they go with a Christian Bale persona, one I didn't like so much, then Affleck will have some trouble. If they go with Michael Keaton persona then Affleck will be right at home.

Now here's some classic Batman for you . . . withs one Jerry Lewis, Sammy Davis Jr. and so on.

Post Script: I really tire of Batman's belly aching. By movie three the whole gravely voice and all the world is  dark corner of some twisted nightmare of a broken promise made me start to think that Batman needs to retire and let someone else do something.
