About 1000 years ago a Viking by the name of Fastulv was enlisted to care runes in an arch erected by Gunne and his wife Asa. The arc, they set upon a high hill west of Stockholm. The stone commemorated the life and death of Gunne and Asa's son, Ond. Ond died on the island of Ekero in Lake Malaren.
How Ond died is not known for the stone reads simply:
"Gunne and Asa had this stone and arch erected for Ond, their son. He died in Erkero . He is buried in the graveyard. Fatulv inscribed the runes. Gunne erected the stone and slab."
The stone stood for 700 years at least for its inscription was written down by a man with a passion for such things, Peringskiold. He drew the arch and wrote the words but the stone and arch were soon lost to history. No one's been able to find them for 300 years.
Until now. Some university students stumbled on it. In a field. with flowers growing on it. I'm not sure people were really looking that hard.
