Well, not so fast!
It seems Hasbro has long held the rights, according to their legal team, having picked it up when they acquired Wizards of the Coast back in 2003 or there-abouts. This purchase came with the use of the property in a feature flim, or so they say. In face they say they have a movie in pre-production at Universal and have already tapped Chris Morgan, of the Fast & Furious franchise, to work on the film.
Warner Bros however has no plans on backing down and intends on moving forward with the project in hand with a script by Wrath of the Titans screen writer.
No way this does not end up in court.
This brand just can't seem to avoid legal battles. Since its beginning back in the 70s people have been suing each other over it.
