Vikings Super Highway

At Loch na h-Airde on Skye’s Rubh an Dunain peninsula archeologists have uncovered the remains of what appears to be a Viking Shipyard with quay, boat timbers and a canal. This is an interesting read, but what stands out more than anything is this quote:

"We are now so used to thinking about travelling round Scotland by roads, that it is difficult to visualise how our ancestors might have used the sea as a highway."

That's a very nice way of putting it. Instead of loading the kids and ipads into the family van, vikings loaded the kids and their loot in the family longboat. Just as easy on the feet I should think.
