Engineers have constructed a new ice drill that can bore deep into the ice. Called the Ice Mole, it has broken into glaciers in the Antarctica bringing up water samples trapped since the Winter Dark.
But the drill's real purpose is for deployment on Saturn's moon Enceladus where it is hoped that it can bore through the 24 miles of frozen ice and break through to the liquid oceans beneath. Doing so would at last allow us to prove that the life exists elsewhere than on earth (I'm pretty sure there is life on that there moon).
Of course the drill won't deploy for many years as we have no ships scheduled to head to Saturn.
But when we do...when we do....we'll unleash the horrors that lie beneath the frozen seas!
