Studies trace the genomes for thousands of years and have discovered that human and dogs have tracked similar changes in neurotransmitters, cholesterol and cancer genomes. All this affects diet, personality and interaction.

Much of it can be attributed to the living environments of both species are similar...well exactly the same since we live together, so those outside stimuli that affect and impact humans have a similar impact on dogs.
