Werewolf Legends from Around the World

Vampires are passe these days. Everyone's done 'em to death. Every so often a really scary vampire film comes along, but those are few and far between. Zombies are everywhere, too. The one classic movie monster that still gets left in the cold (largely because nobody can seem to handle it right) is the werewolf.

Werewolves can make for a supremely scary and creepy addition to your horror-themed pulp, modern or fantasy game. This is especially true if you do away with the old wolfsbane and silver trope and look at some variant werewolf legends. Here's a couple of great sites with werewolf legends from around the world and global werewolf myths. A quick Google search turns up dozens more! Throw your players a loop (garou; see what I did there?) this season by turning the werewolf legend on its ear!

If you're looking for guidelines on just how to play with different varieties of lycanthropes, the Amazing Adventures Manual of Monsters has guidelines on how to modify existing monsters to customize them for your game!
