Curiosity Headed Out

Curiosity has been poking around the same site for about 6 months, give or take. He's taken several drill samples, made some interesting discoveries (the amount of water formed crystals is greater than expected) and is now ready to head out. If you've been following along, you've no doubt seen some of the images of Mt Sharp that dominates the background in many of the shots . . .

Well our intrepid explorer is about ready to head out for that daunting mountain. Mount Sharp is rather unique for it sits at the center of the huge Gale Crater and is some 3 miles high. Its really not known how the mountain was formed, but it is suspected to hold multiple layers which might reveal a geologic and climatic history (wind patterns) of Mars.

Trollzah to the Rover!

Its easy to forget how big he is (its the one on the right).
