Solar Sailing

Always the problem with deep space travel is fuel and water. Both are heavy and both are necessary. Nuclear power is not a bad substitute but can be dangerous. So science fiction has long put forward the idea of solar sails.

That time is now.

The largest solar sail in history is setting for the heavens this month, its task to successful demonstrate the viability of using solar winds, power, etc as a system of propulsion. She goes up this November.
