Travel

Last night we ran a game, again in the Darkenfold Forest, the remnants of an ancient wood, the Ethvold, that once stretched across the whole of southern Ethrum. The forest is old, where narrow paths twist around old trees, whose tangled roots churn the loamy soil. The sun struggles to filter through the forest canopy and when it does, it does in yellow and gold spears thrust through the dark leaves to strike the forest floor, which in turn seems to drink the light.

These old forests are not easy to travel through, particularly if one is carrying heavy packs or wearing armor of any bulk or weight. Travel is slow as roots grab at dragging feet, branches cling to packs, cloaks, armor, helms, weapons and the like. Forest debris also impedes one, forcing the traveler to constantly pick up their feet or suffer a nasty fall. Vines, briars, and similar bushes pull and tug at clothing slowing one down.

Forest adventures are my favorite, but oft times the slowest.

I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips?
