The Counterattack

So my cleric issue has me thinking about other classes and options for them. Here I am thinkning about a counterattack ability for the fighter classes. My current thinking is that the character can take a type of dodge giving themselves a +1 to AC and if they successfully avoid the attack, they get a counterattack at one half their BtH.  The ability would be available at 2 nd level and cost an addittional 500 xp to the progression of the class for the fighter. The other classes get the ability at 3rd level.
