Clayton Moore played the Lone Ranger from 1949-51 and then again from 54-59. He stared in three Lone Ranger movies as well. After the show was canceled he continued to ride and appear as the Lone Ranger, doing so for years. He appeared in charity events, advertisements, and festivals until he was ordered by the Court to unmask and give up the profession.
Its a bitter sweet story presented here at Mental Floss, but one with a happy ending.
