The Corseque - a polarm

So here is a cool polearm, This weapon probably originated in Corsica, but who knows. It is a polearm anywhere from 4 to 7 feet in length. Like many similar polearms, its use was primarily to slow or halt or injure an incoming charge of cavalry or infantry. It was probably most effective against cavalry. The hooks could point away from the shaft or back towards it. This did not change its basic use though. It could impale a human or horse and puncture armor if the attacker has enough momentum behind them. It could also slice and dice a bit and hook. The hooking is important to bring horsemen to the ground or to hook infantry men. I would assume the preferred variation against infantry is the shaft facing edges so they could be used to snag legs and ankles and trip or disable an infantryman more easily than the forward facing edges. Also, consider that one need not be as accurate with a three bladed weapon as with a one bladed weapon to score a deadly blow.

Cool weapon from the 1500s to the 1600s.
