Eating Zombies
So I don't get it. Do zombies need to eat? Will they eventually just fall over and die if they don't get enough food? And what kind of caloric intake do they need? (I've never used that word in a sentence, but today is a special day!) Also, what happens in the cold? Do they freeze and their limbs, not getting enough blood, fall off?

I've always wondered how long it takes a zombie to rot away completely and fall into a pile o' bones. I mean, can't the folks in Walking Dead just wait a few months and all the zombies decompose and bam, problems over? And like you I've also wondered about the effect of below zero temperatures on zombies. They're dead, no way to generate body heat. Wouldn't they just freeze solid and again no problems during winter time in a cold climate.
haha that's what i was thinking during last weeks Walking Dead when they fed them chickens. And that's true, they would eventually rot unless their circulatory system is working. Zombie ecology 101, sounds like a good C&C book!
I had a similar discussion ("How long does it take a Zombie to rot out?") with @GMSarli on Twitter. He gave some thoughtful analysis which I can dig up if you're interested but essentially he claims: The time between a healthy human male being bitten to death to zombification is about 3 days. After that, it takes about 3 months for the zombie to essentially decompose into a pile of mush.
