Elisa Teague

I would like to take a moment and give a shout out to a good friend of the Trolls, Elisa Teague. I had the pleasure of meeting Elisa several years ago at Gencon. Aldo Ghiozzi, formally of Impressions now of Flat River Group, introduced us. For such an accomplished game designer she was insanely approachable, and we struck up a rather hilarious conversation. Since then we’ve crossed paths at a number of conventions and we’ve been lucky enough to have Elisa lend her talents to both The Lost City of Gaxmoor and The NPC Almanac. With a little luck this will only be the beginning of collaborative work between TLG and Elisa.

For those who may not know Elisa, she is best known as being a lead designer on Betrayal at House on the Hill: Widow's Walk, Talisman: Kingdom Hearts Edition, the Apocrypha Adventure Card Game, and her Geek Out! line of games, including the just released Disney Edition, not to forget her RPG work for D&D, which includes Return to the Ghost Tower of Inverness and Wardlings, a 5e compatible campaign setting! She has some 100 titles to her name.

Needless to say, it’s been a rough couple of months for just about everywhere, but Elisa has been forced to carry more than the rest of us. In the middle of all this pandemic madness, her husband of many years passed away quite suddenly, leaving her and her two young children to find a new path. She did not have time to catch her breath before she was diagnosed with a tumor that had to be removed. This took several surgeries and put her and her family under more stress than most. She has handled all this with amazing resilience and continues to do so.

In order to help her manage this terrible cascade of events, a friend of hers set up a GoFundMe campaign. The campaign is to help her manage funeral costs and get her finances in a manageable shape. If you have a moment and can spare a little, please consider visiting the campaign and contributing.

Elisa is an amazing game designer and truly we would like to see her, pen to paper, and focused on the fun we all so very much enjoy.

Joe and Elisa Teague.

A Hole in the Gloom

The day's march ends after night has fallen, upon the banks of the stream, the valley all around, the stars a mirror of the tumbling water. You're laying on your belly, quenching that nagging thirst when a light emerges from the tree line. It sears a hole in the gloom, driving the dark into the shadows, where it weaves a macabre dance.

Ebb & Flow

Staggering against you. His life yours. He lifts the axe, but his muscles give way as the life ebbs from them. He slumps against you and the axe comes down in the soft wood of the fallen tree. There it remains . . ..

Coming in 2021...The Robert E. Howard Art Chronolgy

Conan Properties and Robert E Howard Properties LLC has teamed with Chenault & Gray Publishing/Troll Lord Games to bring you Michael Tierney’s Robert E. Howard Art Chronology. This multi-volume set explores the art used in the manifold publications of the vast Howard body of work for nearly the past century, including novels, comics, pulps, and more! Tierney brings the same clear vision, attention to detail and capacity for exhaustive research to the Robert E. Howard Art Chronology as he did to the Edgar Rice Burroughs 100 Year Art Chronology project.

When discussing the project, Stephen Chenault of Chenault & Gray, remarked, “Everyone here is extremely excited about this! If ever there were an icon that has universal recognition and whose stories touched a nerve in multiple generations, it is Robert E. Howard. His remarkable writing style remains unrivaled to this day, and his influence in games, fiction, movies, comics and all the manifold aspects of our entertainment worlds cannot be overstated. Ever since we released the 4-volume set of the Edgar Rice Burroughs Chronology, we’ve talked about doing one for Robert E. Howard. The prospect of working with the fine people at Robert E. Howard Properties and working again with Michael Tierney is a pure pleasure.

Michael Tierney’s Edgar Rice Burroughs’ 100 Year Art Chronology, available now, is a 4-volume collection that captured the vast illustrative history of Edgar Rice Burroughs. ERB., Inc. and Chenault & Gray Publishing debuted in 2017 to wide acclaim. It chronicled all the vast reservoir of art that adorned the many ERB publications, from Barsoom to Caspek for the past century! The Robert E. Howard Art Chronology is expected to be 3-4 volumes and will be presented in the same format as the ERB collection.

A Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to launch in the late Spring, early Summer of 2021. Join the discussion on discord, facebook or the blog. Troll Lord Games and Chenault & Gray have run over 30 successful Kickstarter campaigns.

Look to the Hands

A warriors life is written in the hands. It is not in the hair, or beard, or sullen look for life in tired eyes; it is in the hands where the true measure lies. #ttrpg #aihrde #playcnc

Barrens

The languid tufts of grass cling to the barren soil, held, it seems, in bondage to the gray clouds and mist of rain that clings to all the world around you. But there is nothing for it, nothing but to go forward and cross the heath, barren of all, but fatigue.

An Old Country

I cannot say what you saw, but know that that land is haunted and it will swallow the unwary. It breathes, even as you and I, and it knows more than it lets on, for it is an old country, stained with all the long joys and miserys of the world. And it remembers, long beyond the moment. It remembers. ~The World of Aihrde

Pale Light's World

The sun touched the mountain peaks, but the pale light failed to unriddle aught; you cannot tell where one world ends, and the other world begins. The World of Aihrde

Unspoken Dangers

There the valley lies, "in the shadow of the giant's teeth, beyond the tumbling foam", even as the old man said. Though no hint of such a tranquil scene escaped his utterances. No village, nor roads, nor crops already green....these are portents he left strangely quiet.

Beyond the Horizon

Your horizon, so long broken by the the tangled branches of black jacks and cottonwood ... gives way ... suddenly ... to the clean line of open spaces and the comforting sight of walls and towers, of homes that cast a blended glow of yellowed white. A refuge. A place to take stock and heal.

A House of Sorcery
