I would like to take a moment and give a shout out to a good
friend of the Trolls, Elisa Teague. I had the pleasure of meeting Elisa several
years ago at Gencon. Aldo Ghiozzi, formally of Impressions now of Flat River
Group, introduced us. For such an accomplished game designer she was insanely approachable,
and we struck up a rather hilarious conversation. Since then we’ve crossed
paths at a number of conventions and we’ve been lucky enough to have Elisa lend
her talents to both The Lost City of Gaxmoor and The NPC Almanac.
With a little luck this will only be the beginning of collaborative work
between TLG and Elisa.
For those who may not know Elisa, she is best known as being
a lead designer on Betrayal at House on the Hill:
Widow's Walk, Talisman: Kingdom Hearts Edition, the Apocrypha
Adventure Card Game, and her Geek Out!
line of games, including the just released Disney
Edition, not to forget her RPG work for D&D, which includes Return to the Ghost Tower of Inverness and Wardlings, a 5e compatible campaign setting! She has
some 100 titles to her name.
Needless to say, it’s been a rough couple of months for just
about everywhere, but Elisa has been forced to carry more than the rest of us.
In the middle of all this pandemic madness, her husband of many years passed
away quite suddenly, leaving her and her two young children to find a new path.
She did not have time to catch her breath before she was diagnosed with a tumor
that had to be removed. This took several surgeries and put her and her family
under more stress than most. She has handled all this with amazing resilience
and continues to do so.
In order to help her manage this terrible cascade of events,
a friend of hers set up a GoFundMe campaign. The campaign is to help her manage
funeral costs and get her finances in a manageable shape. If you have a moment
and can spare a little, please consider visiting the campaign and contributing.
Elisa is an amazing game designer and truly we would like to
see her, pen to paper, and focused on the fun we all so very much enjoy.
Joe and Elisa Teague.
