NEWS! Egyptians were Humans
It has long been believed that Egyptians were not humans, but rather some hybrid form of creature birthed from the sun god Ra's own imaginings. As such they were utterly immune to normal bodily functions such as going to the bathroom, eating, breathing, having clogged arteries.
Well apparently they may have been human after all as researchers found they were susceptible to normal human ailments. Having found mummies with clogged arteries. Says a cardiologist: "We may have oversold the whole healthy lifestyle thing."
Apparently they've found these arterial conditions in a number of humans . . . I meant early humans . . . which has stunned researchers who generally believed that ancient man was above the wants and desires of society.
In a horrifying moment of self-awareness researchers determined that we may not be so special after all and the old saying "there is nothing new under the sun" holds more than a cup of water. Maybe, just maybe, we are the same species . . .

Viking Navigation
Its always been a bit of a mystery how the Viking sailed such long voyages without navigational equipment. They no doubt used the stars, but in a region where cloud cover is common, clouds, sun and moon prove less reliable. They no doubt used course corrections, sailing blind at times, but during any break in cloud cover, setting their course to right by the stars they knew so well.
But rumor trickled down through the ages of a sun-stone. A stone that guided them in night or day. a magnetic? Perhaps, but some new evidence MAY have come to light in the shape of an Icelandic Spar; crystal that captures faint light and casts it back.
With the discovery of such a stone upon the wreck Alderney that sank in 1592 researchers, and Vikings, think they might be a little closer to the sun stone.

This Already Happened . . .
But we are getting a bird's eye view into a cosmic event. The Black Hole that resides at 0001 Milkway Center is about to devour a cloud of cosmic gas and dust. Its estimated that it will take about a year for us to play host to the event.
Awesome.
Awesome.
Top to Bottom
Live Science has posted a cool graphic depicting our planet from the top to the bottom. Though its not quite all the way to the bottom, just the bottom of the crust. So no lava in this depiction. Nice graphics pin pointing familiar creaturs/things, down to the deepest dive we've ever taken (though it could have posted the movie Wanted as the deepest humanity has ever gone).
Check it out. Live Science.

The Harvester (New Magic)
The
halflings of the Gottland are a fierce people who enjoy fighting like few others.
As such they prize close quarter weapons, hand axes and knives. A favored is
the harvester, a heavy set, singled edged, curved knife. The blade ranges near
10 inches in length, with an S-shaped cross-guard and the handle usually made
of bone or ivory. The harvester is a +1 knife, however, the magic blade can
actually feed its wielder as the offering rune bound within it draws out
the life force of whomever it strikes. For every six points of damage the blade
inflicts the wielder gains 1 HP back; only the knife's +1 bonus counts toward
the damage, the wielder's strength does not.
