Rosetta Has Arrived

The ESA's Rosetta space craft has arrived at its destination, a comet some 4 billion miles away. She settled into an orbit some 60+ miles from the surface of the spinning ice, with her ultimate goal to put a lander on its surface. Its been a 10 year journey and required the space craft to circle both Earth and Mars before cutting through the Darkling Skies.

In route she discovered that the comet is actually two chunks of ice-rock connected by a small neck.

Now Rosetta is looking for a place for its lander, Philae, to set down so that can begin exploring, and find out what this sucker is about.

No matter how you cut it, the Europeans just put a satellite in orbit around a comet. That is pretty damn bad ass! Kudos to the ESA!
