In comics. Seems only about 17% of the people making comics and anime these days are women, a percentage that hasn't changed since 1946 . . . this according to the actress Geena Davis and her media research firm.
She also pointed out the dress code in anime is much more revealing than in some adult (don't read pornt) oriented shows.
That's probably true.

It's worth noting that the term "anime" doesn't appear in the article being cited here.
While I know that most people use the term loosely, I'm of the opinion that there's a difference between "anime" and American-produced animation (or the animation produced in any country that isn't Japan, for that matter).
