A very appropriate word for New Year's Day, don't you think? Here's hoping all you Crusaders had a good and happy new year's eve and looking forward to a great 2013!
Hangover -- disagreeable physical effects (as headache or nausea) following heavy consumption of alcohol or the use of drugs. This word is pretty simple in origin, it has to do with the concept of something "hanging over" you, looming over your body full of pain and misery. Certainly imbibing ten beers or a bottle of Jack will cause you to feel full of pain and misery. It originated around 1894, from what I can gather it was in an article in a local St. Louis paper. No doubt the Troll Dens have had our share of hangovers, but we can assure you they were all for a good cause. :-) Tim
