The Betty Page in Traveler
We broke from our normal Castles & Crusades game last night and played some old school Traveler. We had already made characters so we were able to dive into the game with a gusto. It was a blast. After picking up orders to take command of the space ship Aurora, we managed a wicked mean bar fight that ended up more bloody than intended.
But when we got to the ship, after we took command, we promptly painted out the name Aurora and painted Betty Page over it.
The Betty Page is heading into the Spinward Marches.

We Don't Have To Worry
Astronomers watching a nearby star were stunned to see a flare rip out from the red dwarf star. The amazing thing was that the flate was 1000 times larger (I might be off on that) than anything we've seen on our own sun. It was massive!
Cool video below, but I like the comment the one astronomer made about 'we don't have to worry' because it is a very young star and out own is not, so it is not susceptible to it.
That might be true but we don't have to worry about it because there is absolutely nothing on, under or above the earth we can do to protect ourselves against such an explosion. :)

Movie Roundup
American Sniper, new movie from Clint Eastwood, one of the best directors out there.
The Water Diviner. This looks like an emotional roller coaster. But with Russell Crowe, you can't hardly go wrong.
And to wrap up, a little something on the light side. The Interview
Interstellar Trailer #3. Okay, I've been dubious about this one, but the visuals look beyond extraordinary! Fantastic even.
Gods and Kings Trailer 2. This will be epic.

Star Wars Posters
A new book coming out hold a treasure trove of Star Wars posters. It has over a hundred of the iconic posters and other art. It starts with the pre-release posters for Star Wars A New Hope and heads on into the modern era.
Here's a more complete piece on Wired, with some of the posters displayed.
Word of the Day -- Pleiades (Greek Mythology)
The Pleiades, companions of Artemis, were the seven daughters of the titan Atlas and the sea-nymph Pleione born on Mount Cyllene. They are the sisters of Calypso, Hyas, the Hyades, and the Hesperides. The Pleiades were nymphs in the train of Artemis, and together with the seven Hyades were called the Atlantides, Dodonides, or Nysiades, nursemaids and teachers to the infant Bacchus.
There is some debate as to the origin of the name Pleiades. Previously, it was accepted that the name is derived from the name of their mother, Pleione. However, the name Pleiades may derive from πλεῖν (to sail) because of their importance in delimiting the sailing season in the Mediterranean Sea.
Pleiades, is also the Seven Sisters in astronomy, but more on that tomorrow...
