Don't Clean you Keyboard!

Bio-engineers are working on harnessing and old source of electricity from new forms. Its seems that some viruses emit a small jolt of electrical current when pressure is applied to them, the piezoelectric effect...whereby a solid generates an electrical charge after pressure is applied, sonar uses piezoelectricity by harnessing the current stored in crystals.

At any rate, scientists have taken the M13 virus, which is not harmful to humans, spread it over a small conductor applied pressure to it and created a small electrical charge. See the video below.

To make this happen they had to genetically enhance the virus with amino acids and stack them in films 20 deep. The hope is that eventually you can power your small devices, like your phone, with these genetically enhanced viruses.

Now that's science!!!!  LINK.

post script: the only sad thing about this article is that apparently crystals DO have magical properties...that is to say they hold electrical charges. Now I have to tell all those New Age folks they were right!
