Dose of Medicine
Now this is really cool. Claire Lomas injured herself in a horse riding accident and has been paralyzed from the waist down. She has just returned home with a bionic exoskeleton that helps her walk. This is much akin to the first giant, clunky, cell phones. In just a few years we'll be grafting this to our bones . . . aka Terminator style!

Burning Man 2012
The Burning Man Festival just wrapped up. Held annually in the Black Rock Desert the fest attracts about 10,000 groo-meisters...mendicant wanderers, often including our very own Sarah "Dreamie" Walker, you've seen her work on works such as Classic Monsters. Here are some of the images.
Rivetheads
Rivetheads are people caught up in the industrial dance scene. The origins of the word...in relation to the industrial dance scene...lands squarely on the desk of Reconstruction Records, whose CEO took the word and used it to describe that growing subculture.
The original word is as interesting. Rivetheads were people who worked on automotive assembly lines and construction workers, going back to the 1940s.
There something markedly different. I can't quite put my finger on it.

From the Songs of Tolkien
Ho! Ho! Ho! to the bottle I go
To heal my heart and drown my woe.
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
And many miles be still to go,
But under a tall tree I will lie,
And let the clouds go sailing by.
To heal my heart and drown my woe.
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
And many miles be still to go,
But under a tall tree I will lie,
And let the clouds go sailing by.

Bring the Fire
Not long after our Quest for Fire men picked up the ability to burn the crap out of things . . . from a distance. The first mention of the flamethrower is in Thucydides where some Greeks burned the living tar out of some other Greeks with tubes of flame. This was in about 424 BC. The Byzantines followed a few centuries later with early air pumped flame throwers and the Chinese made some crazy fire vomiting machine.

Last Week's Badass of the Week
"The Dahomey Amazons are the only documented all-female official
front-line combat arms military unit in modern history. Tough,
uber-intense asskicking women single-mindedly devoted to hardening
themselves into ruthless instruments of battlefield destruction, these
machete-wielding, musket-slinging lady terminators were rightly-feared
throughout Western Africa for over250 years, not only for their
fanatical devotion to battle, but for their utter refusal to back down
or retreat from any fight unless expressly ordered to do so by their
king."

In Case you Forgot
George McFarland joined the Our Gang gang back in 1932 and became one of the most famous, if not the most famous, of the Little Rascals. Spanky created classic moments in cinema!
