Unspoken Dangers

There the valley lies, "in the shadow of the giant's teeth, beyond the tumbling foam", even as the old man said. Though no hint of such a tranquil scene escaped his utterances. No village, nor roads, nor crops already green....these are portents he left strangely quiet.

Beyond the Horizon

Your horizon, so long broken by the the tangled branches of black jacks and cottonwood ... gives way ... suddenly ... to the clean line of open spaces and the comforting sight of walls and towers, of homes that cast a blended glow of yellowed white. A refuge. A place to take stock and heal.
