In the Empire Strikes Back, part 2 or part 5 depending on what generation you belong to, Luke Skywalker received a new hand after his woefully neglectful father cut it off with a light saber. At the end of the movie we see him being fitted with the hand as he eyeballs his sister. This is roughly the same hand that the Terminator had to fix when he took several gunshots to the hand and arm from Kyle Reese. And of course who can forget Steve Austin in the Bionic Man. . . we will build him . . .
At any rate the Italians have done it. They have fashioned a bionic hand that allows one to "feel." So that you can send signals from the brain to the hand, guiding it to into action. The hand will be attached to the median and ulnar nerves, allowing a flow of information from the brain to the hand and hand to brain. No matter which way you cut it, this is pretty cool.
