Word of the Day -- Moose

I'll freely admit this is just an excuse for me to talk about my favorite animal, the

Moose -- a ruminant mammal (Alces alces) with humped shoulders, long legs, and broadly palmated antlers that is the largest existing member of the deer family and inhabits forested areas of Canada, the northern U.S., Europe, and Asia.

These animals are just plain awesome.  The word moose of Algonquian origin; akin to Massachusett moos. and has been around since about 1600, but moose have been around much longer than that. My wife love to go to Jackman, Maine and ride around on the logging roads looking for moose.  We will get up at 4, make coffee, then head out.  It's just one of my favorite things in the world to do.  Very calm driving around looking at the scenery, then all of the sudden you will spot a moose and they are just so big they can take your breath away.
