The Morning Star

No I'm not referring to rising Venus or whatever star dots the horizon before the break of day. I'm referring to the bone crushing, iron grinding, hole in head punching ball on a chain on a flail weapon. This is one of the coolest weapons ever devised, partially because its name is so utterly sweet! Morning Star! Almost all my characters carry one of these...and by morning star I mean the military with chain and spiked ball. Seems this weapon is derived from a peasants thresher, a tool used to separate grain from the husks. The iron spiked ball is a later addition to a thresher with a spiked wooden end.
