Wonders of Bread

Taking common bakers yeast and genetically engineering it has allowed scientists to create a drug, artemisinin, to treat malaria. Currently artemisinin is extracted from wormwood plants, the leaves dried and cured and the chemical extracted  . . . much like athelas which Aragorn went to great pains to find while in the wild and after Frodo had been stabbed by the Morgul blade.

Now it can be bioengineered from bread yeast.
