Now this is Bad Ass

The primeval world is fascinating . . . here early man stalked the forests of impenetrable darkness to fight gigantic beasts with dagger-long fangs, and claws of steel. This took courage beyond modern man's; with no help from behind, the hunter moved through the wilderness of our early days with stone-shod shafts of oak and ash. There were no contemplative explanations to hide away the unknown, there were only uncaring gods and your own brawny muscle.
