Primeval Power

This is an older video from National Geographic. It chronicles the struggles for territory between a lion pride and a pack of hyenas. The hyenas hound a bunch of females from the area until the male arrives. He hits the hyena matriarch after the zebra kill and in the following weeks the war continues with the new matriarch.

It shows the sheer aggressive primeval power of the lion.

DO NOT WATCH if you are squeamish. A baby zebra dies in the beginning...probably wishing the lion had shown up five minutes earlier.

Lions rock. Told you that they were better than wolves. :-)

I am glad someone else shares an affinity for my favorite animal from childhood.

Imagine that big boy from the clip quietly circling your party's camp after nightfall...with his harem of lionesses in tow. The party sentry hears him growling in the darkness, but those lioness, expert killers swift and sure, are potentially the real threat.

As an aside, check out this cheesy (but fun) bit of nonsense. It's the zoologist version of the MBTI: http://animalinyou.com/test.php
