So here is some cool music i ran across today,
The singer's name is Maddji. She is of the Sami peoples of the far north of Europe. The Smai, or Lapps or (at some time in the past ) finns are a finno-ugric people. The finno ugric peoples are a vast group who speak finno-ugric languages (the Sami being one of them and the Finnish another and, oddly, the Hungarians).
Finnish had a geat impact on Tolkeins development of the High Elven language Quenya. Tolkein also borrowed from Finnish or Lapp and nordic mythologies to develop his world.
So, you just heard some elven woman singing. Off course, the 13th Warrior depicted the Sami (quite possibly) as bloodthirsty savages - much like Arkansans.
