Rivetheads are people caught up in the industrial dance scene. The origins of the word...in relation to the industrial dance scene...lands squarely on the desk of Reconstruction Records, whose CEO took the word and used it to describe that growing subculture.
The original word is as interesting. Rivetheads were people who worked on automotive assembly lines and construction workers, going back to the 1940s.
There something markedly different. I can't quite put my finger on it.

It took me a while... but I finally noticed the difference between the original rivetheads and the present-day rivethead example you posted. The present-day isn't wearing a hat!! :-D
