Marvel Takes the Stars..Wars

For the past 20 years Dark Horse Comics has been publishing Star Wars comics. They started way back when with Dark Empire and have continued a successful publication run ever since.

That's all going to change according to Lucasfilms, Marvel and Dark Horse. Yesterday (Sunday, the 5th) all three giants released notices to the press announcing the news. Marvel will begin publication of the Star Wars franchise in 2015. That's just one more year for all you Dark Horse fans to look for something new.

Having been at the receiving end of losing a great license I can feel for the folks at Dark Horse. Admitted "Star Wars geeks," these guys have been neck deep in their favorite brand. As for Marvel getting, being a DC fan, I can't say one way or the other!

Dark Horse Announcement.

Aren't both Marvel and Lucasarts owned by Disney? If I'm recalling correctly, then it shouldn't be surprising that Disney is consolidating operations like this.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. Disney is pulling licenses back in house.

However, it means I'll be saving some money because the only Star Wars comic I read is Legacy.

That, and the Marvel SW comics were always just stupid and goofy.

Yeah, we'll have to wait and see what they produce. I'm going to reserve judgement, but I did that with Wonder Woman and now she's a Kryptonian. ug
