In the past the Star Wars franchise tended to be a bit divided, movies taking precedance over comics, tv, etc. There was some attempt to bring it all together under one roof and with one coherent story line but this tended to break down in practice.
But, according to Lucasfilm StoryGroup, that will no long be the case. Now everything will line up and all SW properties stick together.

Presuming that this doesn't involve discarding of large amounts of existing canon from the Expanded Universe materials, I think that this sounds like a great thing!
