It seems that individual comic titles are enjoying the same thing RPGs are. The overall number of hit comics is down, or flatlined. Those selling over 50,000 units are not seeing significant growth in readership. However, overall comic sales are increasing, in some cases, dramatically.
How so?
Diversification. Readers are picking up more titles. Less single title unit sales, but more overall general market sales. Read more.
This puts a heavy strain on larger publishers like DC and Marvel, but gives a breath of life to smaller publishers.
But in any case, the whole market seems to be very healthy. And that's a good thing.
